How To Achieve Our Goals Effectively
Every one of us has something in common. That is to become successful in our lives, living the life we wanted to be. An inner self-instinct that tells us that we have to set something for the future. In reaching for our success in order for us to succeed, we must have our goals. Set for ourselves to have a timeline and a plan to follow.
Setting our goals starts from little. We can have set it for a day until how long would our goal that be. Such as setting a big goal, breaking it down into smaller ones is the best way of achieving it one at a time. We have to start with consideration in achieving our goals. It needs a lot of hard to do it.
In reaching our goals, we can have it the SMART way. That is Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic or Relevant and Time-Bound. These 5 aspects are very important in setting our goals.
Having a specific goal set shows us the right path of where we are heading to. It must be set in a clear and identifiable plan, as to generalized goals, it can’t provide us with a clear direction and might be leading us away from our goal. Specific goals help us in answering our “W’s” questions.
This comes first; such questions in our minds. “What will be my goal?” or “What I want to achieve?”
Second; answers our “Why is this important?” or “Why do I have to plan for this?”
The third one; think of the person or people involved in our plan. It might be for personal or work related people.
Setting our goals must be also measurable. We have to set a deadline on when will we are going to achieve this. It is like tracking our progress of where we are right now. In that way, it can help us stay motivated. We cannot set our goal without a due date, for it might cause us to pause or might even forget about it. What is the purpose of our goal if we can’t have the urge of finishing it.
This time, measurable goals answer our “How’s” in our minds. Like, “how long should I spend?” or “How I and the others benefit from this?”
Our goal must be also attainable in order for us to be successful. It will depend on us on how our capabilities and abilities reach its limit in order for us to achieve it. It’s like also stretching up our values, skills, and motivation to where we can make it. However, it must still remain possible for us.
If setting a goal that we cannot achieve, we will only lose our interest and might lower down our confidence. Leading our desired goal into nothing.
Realistic or Relevant Goals
Realistic goal setting is our urge to make it happen and is possible for us to make it happen. We cannot just set a goal that is too much for it to happen. It will not be a goal anymore but a mere imagination that runs through our minds.
Aside from being realistic, our goals must be also relevant that we want our life or career to reach it. Aligning our goals with relevance and reality help us develop our focus to reach our desired goal.
Setting our goals must meet a timeline. On when will be our goals going to be achieved. We have to set a target date so that it will guide us on where and when to start and finish. It gives us the urgency and excitement to have it done on time.
This goal setting process is our checklist in making our goals achievable. Having the motivation to reach our desired plan for our future. This is an effective tool in providing us focus and clarity in achieving our goals.
